David Davis, (b.1920 d.2002)

David Davis's legacy is felt all over this region where he created public sculpture. This piece is on the national registry. It is a memorial to the Clevelander living in Israel, David Berger, Olympic athlete, one of the 11 athletes who were killed at the Olympic Games in Munich, Germany in 1972. It was designated a National Memorial (National Park Service) in 1980. Davis' work is in many visible locations in this region-in front of the original Progressive Insurance Building, Beck Center for the Arts, Free Clinic, the Beachwood Library, as well as in Sarasota Florida. He founded the Sculpture Center and the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve. His work was in several dozen group shows and more than 18 solo exhibitions.
