Penny Rakoff (b. 1951)

This work has a surreal tone using light, reflection, ambiguity and stillness. This work is both realistic and ethereal, a mood study of the river. We are there and yet we know it is something we have not seen this way. Rakoff is a professor of at the University of Akron .Most of her public art pieces include photographic imagery. She has received many awards and her work is included in private and public collections including the International Museum Of Photography, Rochester ; the Museum of Fine Arts , Houston ; the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago ; and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
