Phyllis Sloane creates arrangements of decorative elements—of shapes and patterns that surround studies of people and settings. She has enjoyed using several art media. She has been a painter especially enjoying watercolor. Her printmaking has ranged from cork cuts, linoleum cuts, woodcuts to silk screen, serigraphs and heat transfer to etching. Her drawing is highly skilled and has focused many times on people in our midst or settings we recognize. The work, colorful and uplifting, has been commissioned by private and public patrons. She has exhibited in Columbus , Boston , Santa Fe , and Philadelphia and frequently at the Cleveland Museum of Art's May Show. She has received many awards and the Cleveland Arts Prize in the Visual Arts in 1982.
